Royal Canoe Club’s Jess Walker heads to the European sprint canoe championships knowing she is in the last chance saloon when it comes to her Olympic preparations, writes Stuart Amos.
The 21-year-old was confirmed in the K4 500m Team GB crew for the London Games last week, alongside Rachel Cawthorn, new girl Angela Hannah and Elmbridge Canoe Club's Louisa Sawers, pictured below.
It is the first and last time the crew will line up before the Games regatta at Lake Dorney.
And Hannah admitted this weekend’s event in Zagreb was the perfect opportunity for some fine tuning.
“I am really looking forward to this weekend of racing, and working with the rest of our crew with the aim of producing our best possible performance at the Games,” said Hannah. Teddington-based Tim Brabants goes in the K1 1,000m event.
