Road safety officers will be in Croydon early next month to advise parents on how to check baby seats are fitted correctly in their cars.
Recent changes to the law have tightened regulations and it is thought not everyone is aware of the new requirements.
Council officers will be providing free advice and demonstrations at Mothercare World in Purley Way on Thursday, November 9, between 10am and 4pm.
The event coincides with national road safety week.
Councillor Chris Wright, cabinet member for planning, environment and urban development, said: "The recent changes in the law may have caused some confusion.
"This is the ideal opportunity to ensure your child's car seat is fitted properly and complies with the law."
A free leaflet, Use the Right Car Seat for Your Child, is available from One Stop receptions and libraries.
Information is also available on the website thinkroadsafety.gov.uk.
