A three-year-old Great Ormond Street Hospital patient from Croydon joined television star Tess Daly to open a brand new comfort area at the children's hospital last week.
Megan Hierons, who lives in South Croydon, is a patient on the Sky Ward at the hospital where the new Comfort Zone sanctuary is featured.
This is the ward where children having orthopaedic and spinal surgery are nursed. Children on this ward tend to have conditions like scoliosis, spina bifida, congenital limb problems and osteogenesis imperfecta.
The Comfort Zone is part of Great Ormond Street Hospital's £30m refurbishment of its orthopaedic wing.
Child patients and their parents will be able to use the area as a relaxation room away from the hustle and bustle of the hospital. It is light and airy and decorated with soft furnishings and toys.
Megan is one of the children who will benefit from the Comfort Zone and helped Tess with the opening.
She said: "Its great having the Comfort Zone to play and make friends.
"There are colouring books, games and dolls, which I can use. Mum can come in too".
Clare Cook or Great Ormond Street says: "The Comfort Zone is a fantastic addition to the hospital's facilities.
"It's important that patients and their parents can get away from the busy wards from time to time. The Comfort Zone will allow them to take a break to chat and play or just relax."
