I have been reading about Sainsbury's wanting to build and open a new store in Coulsdon, why? They have had two in Purley, both of which closed.
One is now derelict, maybe the other one will go the same way. They also had a store in Coulsdon which also closed.
Tesco also had a store in Coulsdon, but this was closed and is now a wine bar. The Co-op is now closed, the only store to have survived is Waitrose.
Now Sainsbury's wish to open another store, one that will tower over every other building in Coulsdon.
This is a semi-rural village, not New Addington where such buildings are normal. Surely four or five storeys would be enough?
It will not have the best of outlooks, with the railway on one side and the bypass on another. They will then have the problem of joining the main road. That should be a laugh, with five side roads trying to filter in to the main road.
What a bottleneck that is going to be.
