Carshalton Athletic boss Dave Garland has promised another raid on the transfer market after two defeats in four days in which the Robins failed to score.
Saturday's 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Havant & Waterlooville was followed by a dreadful 3-0 home reverse against Chelmsford City on Tuesday night.
While the Robins were always going to struggle against Havant, who are mid-table in the Conference South, Garland was unimpressed with the manner of defeat.
His side were never in the game after conceding from an early set-piece and a penalty at the start of the second period.
"I was annoyed about the first goal because we have worked hard on defending set-pieces," said Garland. "We knew they were strong in that department but, despite doing a lot of work in training, we conceded a replica of the goal they scored against us last season.
"I didn't think the penalty was valid, but it didn't matter because we didn't create any chances."
After picking up five points from nine in the league, plus notching two good away wins in the FA Cup, Garland expected more going in to the weekend.
"I haven't got a problem with my defence or keeper but, going forward, we haven't been doing it and I have made a few moves to try to put that right," he said.
"There is a creative midfielder I have had my eye on for a while and that deal is just about done. I have also put in seven-day approaches for a couple of forwards."
Garland refused to name names but revealed one of the strikers is playing at Ryman Premier level, while the other two are plying their trade a level below.
Injured duo Tony Quinton and Mark Hawthorne are out of Saturday's FA Trophy first qualifying round match at home to Ryman Division One North side Potters Bar Town.
Midfielder Adrian Toppin is available after being cup-tied on Saturday, while Luke Fontana will push for a first start after reovering from a stomach injury.
Centre-half John Cartledge should also start after coming through the two matches with no reaction to his knee problem.
