Regarding your article about the proposed hotel in Ashford at the junction of Stanwell Road and the A30, the spokesperson for the developers is quoted as saying that there would be less traffic nuisance on the A30 because of the blockages the car dealership creates.
In all the years I have lived in Ashford, and I use the Stanwell Road A30 junction a great deal, I have never had any problem with car deliveries to the VW dealership.
The problem is the congestion of traffic in Stanwell Road which at most times of the day backs up past the Church Road/Stanwell Road junction.
This has only happened since the Tesco superstore was built and I am sure the local residents were assured at the planning stage of development it would all be lovely and would not affect them.
I beg to differ, another large development is madness.
This proposed development can only make the lives of residents and people using the Stanwell Road worse because at present the car dealership do not use the entrance in Stanwell Road - mainly I suspect due to the traffic chaos it would cause.
If the proposal goes ahead and the hotel uses Stanwell Road for deliveries and parking the result will be mayhem for everyone.
My suggestion is that the county traffic engineers reassess the situation and look at Stanwell Road.
Or are they only interested in major routes and not the smaller roads where the lives of residents, who pay huge amounts of council tax, will be affected.
