Cyclists aged 16 to 66 rode 60 miles in a capital to coast cycle ride.

A total of 60 cyclists from a team organised by Damian Wood, the deputy gym manager at Colets Health and Fitness in Thames Ditton, took part in the challenge.

The entire team managed to raise more than £12,500 for the children’s charity Norwood and the Down’s Syndrome Association. The cyclists set off from Esher College and ended in Hove.

Richard Vail, 66, was the oldest person to cross the finish line, but did so in a valiant 9 hours and 20 minutes. Mr Wood said: “I am delighted at what a great achievement this year’s capital to coast was for the team.

“Every person who took part completed the event and no one gave up. We all supported each other along the way and had a great time doing it.”
