Science week gave pupils at Thames Ditton Junior School the chance to grapple with some exciting experiments.
The inaugural week offered everything from museum visits to workshops and shows at the school.
Visitors from charity Surrey Satro inspired children in years 5 and 6 to build Olympic stadia, using rolled-up recycled paper made into triangular structures with nuts and bolts.
Teacher-led activities included making simple lava lamps and water rockets, bug hunting in the school grounds and visiting Stokes Field nature reserve in Long Ditton for pond-dipping.
Headteacher Nick Fry said: “September will see the completion of our brand new science laboratory, which will place us among a privileged minority of state primary schools.
“After such a successful science week, we are all the more convinced that the lab will be a huge asset. It’s going to set the scene for a whole new level of scientific fun and hands-on learning.”
