An innovative camera which enables images at the end of a microscope to be seen more clearly than ever before has been donated to Epsom Hospital.
The camera, worth £16,500, was donated by the Epsom Medical Equipment Fund and will help staff to diagnose, treat and learn more about illnesses including cancer and blood disorders.
It fits on to a microscope and both instruments together take information from a sample a few millimetres wide and enlarge it into a crystal-clear image.
It also makes it easier to share files with other healthcare professionals and explain the problem to patients.
Dr Charlton said: "When it comes to diagnosing some conditions, catching the problem as soon as possible is absolutely vital.
"This new piece of equipment will play a key role in diagnosing the problem at the earliest opportunity, and is a real boost to our patients and staff."
