Towie favourites Joey Essex and Kirk Norcross will join the likes of Danny Dyer for a celebrity charity football match.

Tamer Hassan, star of the Football Factory and the Business, has temporarily dropped his tough guy image to organise the event.

He will lead his team, the Bob Watson Celebrity XI, against Surrey legends the Select XI to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Onelife UK charities.

The event will honour the memory of Metropolitan Police child protection officer Bob Watson, who recently lost his battle against cancer.

The match will take place at noon on Saturday, July 21, at Imber Court’s police sports club in East Molesey.

Donations have been received from David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Jamie Carragher, Ronaldinho, Scott Parker, Charlton FC and Millwall FC.

Despite the charitable nature of the game, Hollywood star Tamer is not taking it lightly.

He said: “I’m carefully choosing only the fittest celebs; each and every one of them has been put through their paces to make sure they are fit to wear the shirt.

“We promise to bring an entertaining game on the day.

“Bob Watson’s story really touched my heart; he had a heart for young people, bringing them together to enjoy football.

“My team of celebrities will do our best to raise money for Cancer Research UK and Onelife UK. I love football and this is a fun way to raise money.”

Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children or seniors.

Limited tickets are available online at bobwatsonfoundation.co.uk and at the gate.
