While rain put paid to Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s reunion gig in Hyde Park, Nonsuch Mansion’s annual musical extravaganza Big Band in the Park survived the weather.
The showers held off on Friday night, leaving royally entertained by the Jay Craig Orchestra and vocalists playing old favourites from the big band era.
Many members of the audience were up and dancing to their favourite numbers at the charity fundraiser organized by Nonsuch Rotary Club.
The club’s president , Chris Hughes, paid tribute to the work of his team, to put on a good show despite the weather, and many sponsors being hit by the current financial crisis.
He said: “These two facts combined unfortunately meant we ended up with a small loss but despite this we will continue our work helping the local charities and those less fortunate than ourselves – and who knows, there may be a guardian angel out there who can help us.”
