A cat found by the side of the road after being hit by a car is looking for a new home.
The two-year-old black and white tom cat was found injured in Cannon Hill Lane on June 26.
In a lot of pain and unable to walk passersby brought him in to Park Veterinary Practice in Raynes Park, where staff have named him Monty.
Monty had broken three toes, fractured his hip and suffered permanent nerve damage to his hind leg that unfortunately could not be saved and was amputated.
Clair Newton, practice manager at the vets, said: “Monty is very brave, handsome, has a lovely nature and the vets and nurses feel confident that he will recover fully.
“It is amazing how well cats manage without a leg, particularly a back one – and Monty will adapt extremely well because his is young.
“He will still be able to run and will probably still be able to climb trees.
“Many cats manage so well with a missing hind leg that it takes a second look to notice.”
Unfortunately Monty was not micro-chipped so vets were unable to trace his owners, but are looking to return him to his owners or a new home.
If you know someone who would like to adopt Monty call 020 8542 4524.
