A school’s charity zumbathon in aid of a student with a fatal condition raised more than £1,110.
St Andrew’s Primary School in Cobham hosted the zumbathon for Harrison’s Fund on Saturday, July 14.
Harrison Smith, six, attends the school and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy – a genetic condition that causes muscle degeneration.
His father Alex Smith set up Harrison’s Fund to get as much money as possible in to the hands of the world’s best researchers who are working to find a cure for Duchenne.
The two-hour energetic zumbathon was led by three different and more than 40 people took part.
Organiser and school mother Karrie Wallis said: “The event had a fantastic atmosphere, with great music and lots of smiling faces.”
Mr Smith, who also took part, said: “I may have been the only man in the room but I had an amazing two hours of zumba.
“Who would have thought you could exercise that hard and have a smile permanently fixed on your face?
“Most importantly though, this fantastic event has raised an incredible amount of money that we can put to work in finding a cure for Duchenne.”
