Police closed Walton bridge to talk a man down from the edge on Friday, July 13.
Officers were called at about 9.40pm by members of the public who spotted a man in his 30s sitting on the bridge, facing the river.
Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service all attended.
The bridge was closed between Thames Meadow and Walton Lane.
A police spokesman said: “Officers negotiated with the man, who voluntarily agreed come down from the bridge shortly after midnight, and the bridge was fully reopened a short time later.
“The man voluntarily agreed to attend St Peter’s Hospital in Chertsey to be medically assessed.”
