A man gunned down outside his home in South Norwood has been named as Umar Tufail.
The 25-year-old was found shot in the driver's seat of a red Vauxhall Corsa, which was parked in Wharncliffe Road, at 4.35pm on July 15.
Mr Tufail, a rapper who performed under the name Humuh, was taken to a hospital in a critical condition, where he died at 12.18pm yesterday.
A post-mortem examination is due to be held this afternoon at Croydon Mortuary and an inquest will open and adjourn in due course.
Detectives from the Trident Gang Crime Command are investigating the murder, and officers are retaining an open mind as to any motive.
No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
DCI Lee Watling said: "Umar was murdered on a Sunday afternoon near to Grangewood Park. There will certainly have been people in the area at the time and I need to hear from them.
"I am urgently appealing for anyone who witnesses this shooting or saw anything suspicious in the area to call us. I want to hear from anyone who saw a red Vauxhall Corsa being driven in the area around the time of the shooting."
Anyone with information should call the incident room on 0208 247 4554 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
