Racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart took a trip down memory lane when he unveiled a painting of himself at a car club.
Sir Jackie revealed the painting by Tim Layzell, one of the world’s leading motoring artists, at the Royal Automobile Club in Woodcote, Epsom, last Thursday.
The painting shows him in his French blue Matra MS80-Ford race car at the British Grand Prix of 1969, the first time he won the championship, having just overtaken his great rival and friend Jochen Rindt at Stowe corner.
Sir Jackie was also reunited with his winner's trophy at the event and drove the car which led him to victory.
He said: "This is a wonderful painting by Tim Layzell in his unique style and brings back fond memories of my first British Grand Prix win in the year I first won the World Championship.
"It was a great thrill not only for me but for Ken Tyrrell for whom I'd been racing for five years."
