An anti-trafficking charity has had their campaign commended by Croydon Council.
Croydon Community Against Trafficking (CCAT) have campaigned against sex trafficking since the town was named a hotspot for sex trafficking victims.
At a recent council meeting, chairman Peter Cox asked councillors how they could help support and promote the charity's work, through their model called Your Community Against Human Trafficking (YCAHT).
Following the meeting Coun Simon Hoar, cabinet member for community safety and public protection, sent a letter to other councils in London and the south-east highlighting CCAT's work.
Coun Hoar wrote: "There is no success at all in stopping activity in Croydon if it simply results in it springing up elsewhere. Elsewhere could be your borough.
"I would urge you to take an interest in YCAHT and what they can do for your area."
Mr Cox said: "We have had a good response from the letter, I hope people will take it as constructive support."
