Undeterred by miserable weather, 58 members of various resident associations in Addiscombe met for a community walkabout.
The group made up of residents and businesses, met at Cherries Café in Cherry Orchard Road, before litter picking as they walked towards Morland Avenue. About 15 bags of litter were collected along the five mile route.
During the walk Anne Bridge from Canning and Clyde Road Residents Association, highlighted various points of local historic interest.
The 'Addiscombe in Action' group held a picnic lunch at the Sir Philip Game Centre, before exploring Addiscombe Railway Park in the afternoon.
The day ended at the Chase summer fayre.
Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell met with the group at the Sir Philip Game Centre and at the summer fayre.
Mr Barwell said: "I had a great time at the Addiscombe in Action day on Saturday. It's clear that a lot of work went into showcasing some great projects going on in that part of our town and the organisers should be commended."
James Hogg from Residents for Regeneration who organised the event, said: "We were delighted to see so many residents attending the walkabout. The day was about making connections and highlighting the need to support our local community facilities and shopping parade.
"We have lots of innovative ideas planned for the future and hope we can grow into something truly great."
The next event will be the Cherry Orchard Arts Festival in October. Local artists, photographers, musicians, performers and poets who may wish to participate are invited to contact them at cherryorchardarts@yahoo.co.uk or telephone 07951 366 143
