Run by owner Carmelo Mermina, he offers customers a warm welcome plus a great choice of Italian favourites. They aim is to offer great value for money Italian food in a typical trattoria-style Italian restaurant.
The prices are reasonable and the portions generous in this warm and friendly restaurant with a real Italian feel with covers for 75.
Head chef Bruno Catapano studied catering in Italy before working in restaurants in Richmond and the Skyline Hotel, Heathrow.
Monday – Friday there is an amazing value 3-course lunch for £7.95.
Grilled sardines,at £3.75 are some of the most popular starters followed by veal escalope, £9.95. But the menu is extensive. Take your pick from a wealth of starters, pasta, steak, meat and fish dishes before making your selection from a mouthwatering choice of desserts.
The restaurant offers a very good value three course set dinner menu from Monday to Thursday for just £11.95. Starters include minestrone soup, avocado with mozzarella and tomato salad, stuffed aubergine and crespoline pancake filled with ricotta cheese and spinach.
There’s a choice of eight different main courses including roasted quails in rosemary sauce, beef stroganoff, chicken breast with cream and mushroom sauce, cannelloni with spinach and ricotta, rainbow trout, lasagne, veal and calves liver. Excellent value!
A bottle of house wine is just £9.95. Little wonder it is advisable to book for weekends – especially on Sunday.
