A sporty student has shared her experience of carrying the Olympic torch with her school.
Rydens Enterprise School (RES) student Rebeka Simon had the honour of carrying the torch through Folkestone on Wednesday, July 18.
The year 11 student was nominated because of her achievements in the world kayaking championships last year, where she achieved second place.
She brought the torch to school the day after carrying and spoke to PE students about her own Olympic hopes.
She said: “It was a once in a lifetime experience and it was great being famous for the day.”
Miss Simon is a 2016 Olympic hopeful in kayaking.
She has achieved world and European success, most recently a European finalist in Portugal in the K1 500m event.
A spokesman for the school said: “RES are very proud of Rebeka’s achievements and know how hard she is currently training towards the ultimate dream of completing in the Olympics.”
