A team from Wandsworth is celebrating completing the second annual Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp.

The event took place on June 30, Armed Forces Day, in Perthshire, Scotland, to raise money for the ABF The Soldiers' Charity and Prince's Trust Youth Business Scotland.

Carvell's Caterans were among 480 participants raising more than £250,000 for the charities.

In a survival of the fittest, yompers took on bronze- 22 mile, silver- 36.5 mile or gold 52 mile challenges, with Carvell's Caterans completing the gold challenge in just over 22 hours.

Team leader, Robin Carvell said: "The Yomp was hard and to be honest, I think we all slightly underestimated it, especially given the Scottish weather.

But it was tremendous fun and superbly organised and we were delighted to complete the full 52 mile course in 22 hours.

"Most importantly we have so far managed to raise almost £7,000 for ABF The Soldiers' Charity and the Prince's Trust Youth Business Scotland."

David Fox-Pitt, Director of Wildfox Events said: "This year’s Yomp was even bigger and better and it’s fantastic to work with the local community to take over such a beautiful part of Scotland and put the Yomp firmly on the map."

Next year’s Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp will take place on June 15-16, 2013.
