Police officer David Smart is celebrating gaining his first degree.
The Chief Inspector who lives in Croydon, graduated from Robert Gordon University's (RGU) Aberdeen Business School on July 11.
The 44-year-old completed the degree part-time, while continuing serving with the Metropolitan Police Service.
Chief Insp Smart's studies were sponsored by the Home Office as part of the High Potential Development Scheme (HPDS).
Participants are required to show their desire and commitment to reaching senior officer levels.
Despite having no previous undergraduate degree, Chief Insp Smart was granted entry on to the course as the Business School took his professional experience into account, including the promotion exams he had taken during his police service.
He said: "The course was hard going at times but worth it. Now I've qualified it will add significantly to my CV and career prospects.
"I am planning to take further promotions in the police service and my immediate ambition is to become a Superintendent."
