A body has been found in the search for a man who went missing when the speed boat he was driving capsized.
Police began searching the River Thames on Thursday, July 19, after the boat went down just before 6pm.
A 41-year-old man was thrown in to the river with his two passengers when it went over.
The passengers, an 18-year-old man and a 39-year-old man, made it to safety and were taken to St Peter’s Hospital.
They have since been released.
A dive team from Sussex searched around Shepperton park, opposite Desborough Island in Weybridge, in the following days.
On Monday, July 23, at 11.24am, officers were alerted by a member of the public about a body close to Desborough Island and Thames Meadow.
The body has not been formally identified and police have not confirmed whether it was the body of the man who went missing on Thursday.
A police spokesman said: “The body was recovered by a Sussex Police Specialist Search Unit and taken to St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.
“The coroner's office is aware and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled at a later date.”
