Thousands of people cheered and whistled as Tim Henman jogged to the stage at Tooting Bec Common and lit the cauldron.
Some had waited for four hours in the sun to take part in the evening celebration which was only open to Wandsworth residents.
Hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks entertained the crowds as they waited for the torch to arrive in the common.
There were also performances from Britain's Got Talent finalists Twist & Pulse, as well as Wandsworth based musicians Wanted Down Under.
The mayor of Wandsworth Councillor Adrian Knowles spoke to the crowds just before the flame arrived and gave a shout-out to Putney and Roehampton, which missed out on the torch relay.
Graveney School Choir concluded the celebrations at 7.20pm with a rendition of Reach for the Stars.
Twist, whose real name is Ashley Glazebrook, said: "We loved performing for the crowd at Tooting Bec Common. Everyone made lots of noise and we got a really great reception.
"It is my favourite show of the Olympic Torch Relay so far."
But some party-goers criticised sponsors Samsung and Coca-cola for overshadowing some of the entertainment.
Councillor Andy Gibbons tweeted: "Love the Olympic show on Tooting Bec Common but sponsors kept upstaging Graveney choir, great tho'."
Sadiq Khan MP, who followed the torch relay on his bike, said, "It was a magical day. The last time I saw this many people on the streets in Tooting was for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977 - this felt even busier.
"The celebration on the common was also fantastic - particularly our local acts, like the Graveney School Choir."
