Following their success in the Tour de France Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish will be zipping through Putney this Saturday as they bid to win the Olympic cycling road race.

Returning hero Wiggins, who became the first Briton to win the flagship race when he triumphed on Sunday, said: "It's a little weird to leave Paris without a party because it would be nice to spend time with the team and really enjoy it.

"But everything turns to the Olympics, I've got an Olympic road race and time trial to try and win."

Cavendish, who won the final stage in Paris, securing Team Sky teammate Wiggins' the crown, will also take part in the event.

The race will pass through Putney twice on Saturday, but with a minimum four-hour wait before the leaders return along the High Street.

During the gap, a number of events will be held Putney's main thoroughfare to celebrate the occasion including 'The Bunny Hop’,a choreographed cycle comedy story in Putney Wharf, a street party in Lacy Road, a World Market in Church Square and live music outside St Mary’s Church.
