A man has been arrested after a car was broken into in Purley.
Police were called by a member of the public alerting them to the incident, in Warren Road, at about 2.10pm on July 11.
Officers from Purley Safer Neighbourhood Team responded a spotted a man matching the description of the suspect.
A 32-year-old man was arrested and taken in for questioning and has been bailed.
Sergeant Nick Tooher, said: “We’ve arrested a suspect thanks to a call from a vigilant member of the public. We have seen a few car crimes in this area, so it really does make a difference if people are vigilant and call police if and when they see anything suspicious.
“I would also ask people not to leave any valuables in their vehicle. Criminals will break in to your car for that couple of pounds worth of loose change left in open view.”
