A television news reader and a Paralympic athlete have been appointed as the new vice presidents of a leading children’s charity.
News presenter Nicholas Owen and athlete Sophia Warner have been appointed by The Children’s Trust, in Tadworth, which provides care and rehabilitation to children with multiple disabilities, complex health needs and an acquired brain injury.
After visiting the trust this month, Mr Owen said: "It is a wonderful place.
"It is an honour to have been appointed as vice-president of The Children’s Trust.
"I live very locally and want to put my support behind it and the dedicated staff who provide the utmost care, therapy and education for these inspirational children and young people."
Ms Warner, a member of this year’s GB Paralympics team, has cerebral palsy and a special connection to the trust.
She said: "This is where I had my treatment as a child. Little did I know then what that treatment would ultimately help me achieve.
"Now it's time for me to give something back and help others reach their full potential."
