Young boxers took on a former world champion at Team Lambeth Boxing Club’s first training session on Streatham Common on Saturday.
Ten children, aged eight to 14, trained with former professional boxer Wayne Alexander.
Streatham father Darren Hill, who launched the club to help teenagers following the riots last year, said it “Went very well”.
He said: “Obviously the first one will be small. I just need to get the message out that it needs community backing.
“It is to help get kids off the streets and get them on the straight and narrow.”
The next training session will be on Streatham Common on August 4.
