Can someone please explain to me the logic behind the punishment for supposed driving offences?
Some years ago I was fined £30 and got three points on my licence for crossing a double white line.
Just recently my wife had to pay £65 for leaving one-third of the car for ten seconds in a box-junction while making the otherwise-impossible right turn out of Dorset Road.
I was fined by the legal authorities, my wife by the local council. So who is in charge, who makes the rules, who makes the decisions, and who keeps the money?
In both cases I thought the prosecution and the penalty were grossly unjust, but that is another matter.
