An eye specialist from Sutton Hospital has been nominated for a national award following outstanding patient praise.
Anjali Praveen, a clinical nurse specialist in Sutton Hospital’s dedicated eye unit, is in the running for the Clinical Service of the Year award.
She was nominated by a relative of a patient in the unit, in recognition of her exceptionally good practice in the care of people with macular disease – a condition which affects the central vision and is the most common cause of sight loss in the UK.
Ms Praveen who has worked at the hospital for nine years, said: "I am absolutely delighted to have been nominated for this award.
"Although I wasn’t expecting a nomination, it was a very pleasant surprise."
The winners will be decided by judges who will present them with their awards at the Macular Disease Society's annual conference on September 22.
