Pantomime stars stole the stage at a special production on the children's ward at Croydon University Hospital.

The Dick Whittington production was performed by Starlight Children's Foundation, at the hospital on Wednesday.

The children had a great opportunity to boo and hiss at the evil King Rat and cheer for Dick Whittington, providing a welcome distraction for them.

Play specialist Victoria Hill said: "Every year we look forward to the arrival of Starlight's panto, a great dose of fun for our young patients, a fantastic distraction from the pain and anxiety they may be feeling.

"It was extremely enjoyable for all the staff as well."

Croydon University Hospital is one of the first of 100 hospitals and hospices to be visited by Starlight as part of their summer tour.

Claire Farr, one of the four actors in Dick Whittington, said: "The panto is jam-packed with fun and entertainment and our focus is on providing a really engaging show that will keep every audience member completely absorbed."
