An actor who has made appearances on BBC soap Doctors and worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company took to the biggest stage of her life when appearing in the Olympics opening ceremony.

Remmie Milner, 22, negotiated herself through five rounds of auditions to land a coveted role as a party-goer during the Friday night extravaganza.

Appearing as a group of dancers on a night out, Miss Milner, from Shirley, ended her part by spelling out thanks to internet founder Sir Tim Berners-Lee.

She said: "I can’t even find the words to describe it. It is an experience unlike anything else. You are never going to perform again in that situation. When we came off and everyone was just screaming with happiness, then it went silent, I think everyone was just like ‘what have we just been part of?’"

Milner is a former Benson Primary and BRIT School pupil, who also spent three years at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

She remains a close friend of singer and former BRIT pupil Katy B, who was involved in recording music for the Olympics.

With a major role in the drama Miss Milner was under strict instructions from director Danny Boyle not to tell anyone about the show.

She said: "He is such an incredible director, and took a really hands on role with our section. He gave everything to it, and no-one wanted to be the person to ruin that and given away details.

It was only on Thursday night Miss Milner gave a hint she was involved.

She said: "I just said to friend, remember to tune in. Since then I’ve had so many people contact me, people I haven’t spoken to in ages. It is incredible. I don’t know what will come next – that is the way with the job, but it will definitely be different to this."
