Tim Vine has become a patron of Sutton College of Learning for Adults (SCOLA).
The comedian, famed for his one liners such as "I saw a magic tractor yesterday....it turned into a field", has become the college's newest patron.
At the College's show in July to mark its 40th birthday, Vine accepted the role and joins actress June Whitfield CBE and presenter David Jacobs CBE as patrons.
Mr Vine hosted the evening of entertainment to a sell out audience at the Secombe Theatre, celebrating 40 years of the Adult Learning College and featuring performances from students, staff and supporters.
The audience were treated to performances from singers, dance groups, a magician and drummers throughout the evening, as well as a few of Vine's new stand up routine.
Comedian Vine, who is from Cheam, said: "I am extremely happy to be SCOLA's new patron. They are doing wonderful work in the local area and I grew up around here so am all the more delighted to have been asked."
"SCOLA has been around for 40 years and if you don't know what they do, it is mind boggling the wide variety of courses they offer. I keep meaning to do the Mandarin course, after all, who wouldn’t want to talk to fruit."
