A peace concert is taking place on Friday in a bid to show there is an alternative to violence and gang culture.

It will be the seventh peace concert which has been organised by charity Storm Empowerment and takes place in the Wandsworth Town Hall Civic Suite, in Wandsworth High Street.

A number of high profile speakers will be attending, including James Bond actor Colin Salmon, the borough commander of Wandsworth police and former gang member Chris Preddie OBE.

There will also be performances from Lady Leshurr, Cashtastic and opportunities for youngsters in the audience to take part.

Stall holders such as Jobcentre Plus, South Thames College and London Apprenticeships are promoting their services during the event.

Storm set up the concerts with the aim to help young people in the area with the battle against guns, knives and gang culture.

Founder of the charity Marie Hanson turned her hand to the cause after her own son was stabbed.

About 800 people are expected to attend the free event, which requires tickets for entry.

The Annual Peace Concert takes place in the Wandsworth Town Hall Civic Suite, Wandsworth High Street on August 3 from 3pm-10pm.
