A man who spurts water, apple jugglers and other performers are coming to Clapham Common on Thursday as part of London’s largest ever free outdoor arts festival.
Showtime, a festival showcasing events across London until Sept 9, is being presented by the London Mayor to celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Acts, including Vegetable Nannies and Invisible People, are running between noon and 6pm at Windmill Drive on the south side of Clapham Common.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "This eclectic cocktail of artists and outstanding entertainment will bring the enchanting spirit of the 2012 Games right to the doorstep of Londoners across the capital."
Avanti Display will present a show that sees the ‘Spurting Man’ turn into a fountain while Gandini Juggling will present a performance involving a hundred apples.
Meanwhile the Vegetable Nannies, the CBeebies’ favourite gardeners, will be tending to baby vegetables and Les Grooms, a quirky brass band, will present music and comedy.
Lastly an over 60’s theatre group will present Invisible People, who will give one-to-one performances of poems, jokes and stories.
Moira Sinclair, executive director London of the Arts Council England, which is supporting the festival, said: “Programmes like Showtime will present Cultural Olympians with new exciting commissions that will enthral audiences, young and old, across city."
