Residents can have their say on council tax at roadshows this month.
Sutton's 14,300 residents who currently receive council tax support can have their say on changes which could affect how much council tax they have to pay.
The roadshows, on August 2 between 10-12.30pm at Civic Offices and
August 7 between 3-5pm, will see experts answer residents questions.
Four more events are being organised before September 14.
Government changes to council tax support mean that next year Sutton will face a £1.4million hole in its budget unless it is able to find a way to bridge the gap.
Pensioners, disabled people and households with children under five years old will not be affected by any changes, but the borough has looked at reducing the deficit by getting tough on landlords and making changes to individuals' entitlement to support.
But no final decisions have been made.
Leader of the Council Ruth Dombey said: “I cannot stress enough that these changes are important and will have an impact on thousands of people.
"Please go to the roadshows or go online to look at our ideas and tell us what you think. If you don’t tell us your views, we can’t take them into account."
The council's proposals try to spread the additional costs fairly between residents and not create a situation in which jobseekers are discouraged from accepting work.
