An Esher chiropractor will skydive in remembrance of a boy who lost his battle to a rare form of childhood cancer aged just five.
Joe-James Tilley, chiropractor for Esher Chiropractic Centre, will be doing the skydive in Headcorn, Kent on Saturday, August 4, with his girlfriend and practice manager Zoe Hunt to mark what would have been the 21st birthday of Zoe’s brother John.
John died of neuroblastoma – a childhood cancer that affects specialised nerve cells involved in the development of the nervous system, and affects fewer than 100 children a year.
The family are taking part in a whole series of fundraising events for John, including a triathlon, and have so far raised £4,053 – 81 per cent of their fundraising target of £5,000.
Mr Tilley said: “We are both big adrenaline junkies, but neither of us have done anything like this before – I’m excited, but nervous at the same time.”
