Over the weekend of July 28, and on Wednesday August 1, the whole borough was affected by road closures due to the Olympic cycle races, so the provision of normal meal deliveries extremely difficult.
Nevertheless 309 meals were still delivered by volunteers.
Councillor Christine Elmer, Portfolio Holder for Social Affairs, said: “We are really proud of the fact that we have been an Olympic host borough, but we had to ensure meals continued to be provided during the cycle events.
“Many of the wonderful volunteers that deliver the services were keen to keep things going, for which we thank them, but we needed to adapt and plan things to suit the circumstances.
“The result of the intense planning ensured that our more vulnerable residents did not miss out on their essential daily meals over the Olympic period.”
