Children’s right to play will be celebrated on national play day on Wednesday, August 8.

Play Day will be at the play boats in Hurst Park, East Molesey, behind East Molesey Cricket Club, from 11am to 4 pm.

A host of free activities will be on offer to keep everybody busy and entertained.

Children can enjoy arts and crafts, water games, a silent disco, smoothie bike, cardboard cities and other sports.

Councillor Jan Fuller said: “Playing is how children discover the world around them and practise the skills they will need later in life.

“In Elmbridge, we understand how important play is for children but we also want the whole family to join in and spend a thoroughly enjoyable time by the river.

“We made sure there is something for everyone, so why don’t you come down, bring a picnic and join in the fun.”

Children under eight must be accompanied by an adult.

Those over eight years old can attend without an adult and be supervised by the play workers upon booking.
