Cheam's Olympic cyclist, Joanna Rowsell, is taking part in the women’s team pursuit qualifying rounds today.
Miss Rowsell along with Laura Trott and Danielle King are the world champions in the women’s team pursuit and the favourites to win gold in the Olympic event.
They set a record when they won the world title in Melbourne in April.
The team will take part in the qualifiers today in the Stratford Velodrome at 4.55pm.
Miss Rowsell, 23, was a 15-year-old pupil at Nonsuch High School for girls when a team of scouts discovered her.
