Toasting marshmallows and gaining survival skills around the campfire were a few of the activities enjoyed during an event at a leading children’s charity.
Children gathered on the lawn of The Children’s Trust, in Tadworth, for Playday - the annual national day of play.
Expert guidance was on hand as to how to set up and light campfires and the children got involved in teambuilding and problem-solving exercises.
David Thompson, head of play services at the trust, said: "Get out and play was the theme and we surely did in a big way.
"It is an opportunity to make sure that all children and young people are given their right to access the spaces, time and places to play outside in the elements.
"Yummy toasted marshmallows and glowing - if sometimes a little sticky - smiles were the reward for all of their hard graft."
