Kingston University graduate Ed McKeever has not ruled out defending his men's 200m sprint kayak Olympic title in Rio in four years time.

McKeever dominated the K1 single final on Saturday as he stormed to gold, with Spain’s Saul Craviotto Rivero taking silver and Mark de Jonge of Canada clinching bronze.
 

The 28-year-old led from the start and finished in a time of 36.246 seconds, clinching GB’s second canoe sprint gold medal.
 

After Saturday’s victory McKeever said: "I'm so happy - I feel relief. It sounds stupid but it's not elation - more relief and I'm so happy to do it front of a home crowd.
 

"I was like a kid at Christmas this morning waiting to open his presents. I get to open those presents soon.
 

"A hard wind made the race a bit longer. I wanted to focus on the first three strokes, I wanted to nail them and hopefully the rest sorted itself out which it did."
 

"I haven't made any long-term plans. I'm 28, so it could go either way. I'm just so happy I could contribute to the medal table.”
