An after-school study club based at Crystal Palace Football Club is being credited with helping schoolchildren achieve higher-than-average results in maths, English and science.
The Crystal Palace Study Support Centre has been helping under-performing youngsters by offering support in the evenings at the Selhurst football ground.
Latest figures released by Croydon Council show that 60 per cent of children who attended the centre had higher than average key stage two performances, compared with children who did not attend the study group.
The centre, run in partnership with Croydon Council, offers weekly two-hour sessions for students with an emphasis on self-motivation.
