Wandsworth Council is very good at claiming to be green and urging residents to recycle rubbish. It does not seem to be as good at providing orange sacks to enable them to do it.
I have long accepted that neither the council nor its contractors will deliver sacks to houses that contain more than one flat. I appreciate they find it inconvenient to provide sacks for collection at premises such as the Putney Leisure Centre.
Accordingly, I have made time regularly to collect a supply of orange sacks from Putney Library. This has worked well for the last couple of years. Until 4pm on Friday that is.
There were no orange sacks at Putney Library. So much for the vaunted efficiency of "the Brighter Borough".
