With Remembrance Day approaching, I would like to remind readers to support this year's Poppy Appeal, either by making a donation or offering your services as a volunteer collector.
Since 1921, The Royal British Legion has been helping members of the serving and ex-service community and their families, safeguarding the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served their country.
The Poppy Appeal is the primary source of funds to maintain the Legion's welfare and benevolent schemes, which help over 300,000 people each year.
This year's Poppy Appeal starts on Saturday. Every year new volunteers are needed to replace those no longer able to continue collecting.
Anyone over 16 years old can help. If you would like to volunteer call 0800 085 5924 or email poppy people@britishlegion.org.uk Supporting the Poppy Appeal is a positive way of saying thank you for what service people past and present have done for our country.
