A Croydon primary school has been short-listed for a competition which could see it land a £50,000 grant for an environment project.
Davidson Primary School is one of eight schools in the London region to be shortlisted for the People's Millions Lottery programme organised by the Big Lottery Fund.
Across the UK there are 84 £50,000 grants up for grabs and each school shortlisted is subject to a public vote via regional ITV news programmes.
Davidson Primary's planned project is called Tomorrow's Garden and involves creating an accessible, environmentally-friendly garden by transforming wasteland.
The project will be aired on ITV London news on November 13 and is up against a project in Haringey to win public votes via phone or text.
This is the second year of the People's Millions programme which aims to give the public a real say on where Lottery funding will go to benefit their community.
Shobi Shah, teacher at the Dartnell Road primary, which was also highly commended in the Green Guardian Awards, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted. By empowering our children with exposure to a wide range of choices, we hope they will reject unhealthy lifestyles and antisocial behaviour. Winning would have a big impact on our ability to do this."
