I thought I would share my Saturday evening with you. My family and friends went out for a meal on Saturday night in Kingston to celebrate my daughter's 25th birthday.
On the way to Kingston via the bus we witnessed young boys jumping on the seats just before they got off, shouting and screaming and just showing off, or as the do-gooders would say, they were "letting off steam".
After our meal a few of us went home on the bus. What an eye-opener this was. Us "oldies" were sitting on the bus when a group of very rowdy girls got on and went upstairs.
We were forced to hear them sing (they must have watched X Factor) out of tune and in very loud voices, stamping their feet and being generally a nuisance, so much so that the driver stopped the bus and refused to go on until they calmed down.
We should thank Ken Livingstone for this kind gesture of letting children under a certain age travel free. They abuse this privilege, only using it to muck about. We felt quite intimidated and I am sure we were not alone in this.
The Government want us to use public transport for lots of reasons but I am very reluctant to use the bus again on a Saturday night.
How long will it be before something serious happens on one of these bus routes?
