Recently my son, who cycles to work in Surbiton from Kingston, was in Penryhn Road when a car passenger opened his door, clearly without looking, knocking my lad off his bike.
He sustained a shoulder injury and shock and was off work for seven days.
Why are there no cycle lanes between Kingston and Surbiton? Cycling is the easiest form of travel and kind to the environment but sadly it is far from safe.
I have also been knocked off my bike by a careless driver opening a door without looking. This is a plea to motorists and passengers, please look out and give cyclists a wide berth.
