Addiscombe Hockey Club skipper Dan Jones says his team should have taken more from an opening day 2-2 draw with Surrey Spartans.

Goals from Dan Heyberd and Stuart Glassington secured the Surrey Division One point.

All the goals came in the first half and after AHC lost a man to injury, they played the final 20 minutes with 10 men. However, Jones says they should have still taken all three points.

He said: “Spartans were second last year and we felt we should have won, which says a lot about our performance.

“I was pleased with the chances we created compared with previous seasons and how we rallied at the end of the game.

“We had several penalty corners in the final 10 minutes when we put on an awesome spurt, but could not convert them.”

AHC travel to EUHC Gamblers this weekend.
