A Croydon man will be setting off on a round-the-world trip in January - in a £150,000 Land Rover that once belonged to explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Daniel Moylan from Addiscombe bought the bomb-proof vehicle from a museum.
He said "It was a custom-built military Land Rover modified for Sir Ranulph Fiennes but for some reason he cancelled his trip so I decided to buy it. It cost £150,000 but it also doubles up as a home because it has three bedrooms."
Along with four friends, Daniel is hoping to explore a total of 33 countries on the trip across Africa, South America and the middle east.
The five plan to be away for a year but they said the trip was not simply about the thrill of the drive.
Daniel said: "There is charity involvement and by the end of it we're hoping to create a world cookbook and some of the lads are documentary film-makers, so they will be filming parts. It's going to be a lot of fun and we're really looking forward to it."
